The JAS Home Care Agency
Facilitating health and social care has been a long tradition with the Jewish Community of Brno, reaching as far back as mid-19th century. Unfortunately the charitable associations set up by the Jewish Community perished during the Holocaust and they were never restored in their original form. In order to help its socially disadvantaged members and all people in need, the decimated Jewish Community established a social committee after the liberation of the Czech Republic. Although the committee consisted of experienced and qualified members, the need to professionalise its activities arose as time went.
The JAS Home Care Agency was therefore established in 2004, focusing mainly on delivering comprehensive care to senior survivors of the Holocaust within their own social environment. The JAS Home Care Agency headquarters is situated at 1922/3 tř. Kpt. Jaroše Street, Brno, phone +420 544 509 670, e-mail jas@zob.cz. More info available at www.zob.cz. The significant sponsors of the agency have been: The Foundation for Holocaust Victims, the Statutory City of Brno, the Czech Council for Victims of Nazism and the Czech-German Future Fund.
