Mediaeval tombstones excavated in the ancient Jewish cemetery in Brno The first Jewish cemetery in Brno was damaged and destroyed in the mid-15th century. During its sanitation 36 historic tombstones (Fig. 1) were found, of which a large number, to be deposited by the Brno Museum at Špilberk, was restored and lent to the permanent exposition of TIC ŽO Brno at the Jewish Cemetery of Brno.
